Piloting

Score 4 Reading offers the opportunity to pilot our materials to:

  • Schools and Community Colleges

  • Therapeutic and Residential Programs

  • Youth Detention and Adult Corrections

  • Community Organizations working with Struggling Readers

Interested parties should contact pilot@score4reading.com

There are no direct costs involved with piloting Score 4 Reading, and no formal teacher training is involved.  Typically a teacher implementing the program will spend between one and two hours reviewing the program manual and several hours practicing administering the assessment.  Pilot sites need to provide CD players (5) so students can access the modeled reading of each story delivered on CD.

Potential pilots will be scheduled for a  phone conversation to discuss pedagogic and implementation issues.  Following the phone call, the appropriate Score 4 Reading materials will be shipped to the pilot site upon the receipt of a Memorandum of Understanding stating that the materials will be returned or purchased within a 180-day period.
Unlimited support via telephone and email to any staff member of a pilot site who requests assistance is provided.  Additionally Score 4 Reading staff will contact the designated pilot contact person periodically to ensure that any and all issues are addressed in a timely manner.
Pilot sites will administer initial assessments using the forms and criteria provided with the Score 4 program for each reader participating in the Pilot.  A second assessment is to be conducted after 20 hours of instruction.
All data collected from the pilot (minus participant’s names) will be made available to Score 4 Reading.
