"Have you ever been so bored that you realized you were staring at your sleeping cat for ten minutes?  I mean the cat and you haven’t moved for ten solid minutes.  Then when you do move, it’s to stare at the dog that is staring at the cat.  Now that’s really being bored. Well, on one of these incredibly boring, summer mornings I decided to make something exciting happen.  I walked into the kitchen and announced to my parents that I was going on a bike ride.  That was fine with them, and I quickly left for what I knew was going to be an awesome adventure."

"I made a big improvement using Score 4 Reading.  Score 4 is a really good reading program.  I'm glad I get to do it."

-- McKenna Henderson, 6th grade
-- Eugene, Oregon

"Students who used to dread coming to Title 1 not only have stopped complaining, but also tell their parents how much fun they are having since we started using the Score 4 Reading program!  The Title 1 assistants, who have suffered through using many different curricula over the years, love working with Score 4 Reading because it is easy to track, easy to instruct, and easy to see the positive results!"

-- Deborah Stahnecker, Title 1 Teacher
-- Washington Grade School - Veronia, Oregon

“I am so relieved that Aidan has regained his confidence.  His struggle to keep up with the rest of his classmates in reading was causing him to act out at school and basically become the class clown.  At one point he broke down and told me he hated school because he couldn't read!  I realized he had lost his enthusiasm to learn, and we had helped him by not responding sooner to his struggling.  Now, after one summer of Score 4, he is actually managing grade level materials.  He has mentioned to me that he is reading the same books that other kids in the class are....’that he is part of a group’.  He still needs help, but now he is no longer giving up.  He knows he can do it, and now, isn't afraid to try.  His enthusiasm is back, and so is my happy kid.”

"Even when it was a little annoying when we had to get up from bed and go to Score 4 Reading at 9am, I knew it was a good thing to do because Score 4 really helped me.  And I hope I can inspire people that aren't the greatest readers out there, to try to hook up with Score 4."

-- Aidan, 9
-- Eugene, OR

"Score 4 Reading is highly motivating and provides almost immediate results.  I used the program with small groups of students in a learning disabilities program where the students were all struggling with fluency and comprehension.  It was very easy to set up and track their progress.  The students were eager to participate and looked forward to their reading sessions.  They enjoyed selecting their own reading passages and working at their own pace.  Most importantly, their progress was apparent after only a few sessions."

-- Judy Rago, Elementary Teacher
-- Chicago Public Schools

"With Score 4, my students made progress in both reading comprehension and fluency. Best of all, their gains were permanent. Within a day or two in the Fall, students were reading as they had in the Spring. And they love it, asking 'Is today a Score 4 day?'"

-- Carol Elischer
-- West Linn/Wilsonville School District

“The students were engaged and motivated by the independence generated by the set-up of the program, and they showed gains in a short amount of time.”

-- Jan Lichenstein,
-- Title I Teacher

“The kids really enjoy Score 4. It was amazing to watch students who were 2 years below grade level reach grade level in 1 school year.”

-- Chris Willie,
-- Education Assistant

“I feel lucky that I got to use Score 4. I’m going to be in 5th grade and now I won’t be embarrassed to read in class. And last week I started reading a book for fun at home. Yeah, I feel lucky.”

-- 5th Grade Student
-- Springfield, OR

“Score 4 Reading allowed students to work at their own pace and achieve success in reading. They even enjoyed doing it.”

-- Ronica Failes, Education Assistant
-- Springfield, OR

“I came back here less than a month after substituting in this class. There were three little girls that were reading so much better it brought me to tears."

-- Eshkie Zachai,
-- Substitute Teacher
